NomNom Map - Privacy Policy

Thank you for using NomNom Map. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information NomNom Map collects, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your data.

Unlike some of our other apps, NomNom Map requires an account to enable features such as check-ins, the global leaderboard, and badge tracking. This means we do collect and store certain personal information on our servers. Please read this policy carefully so you understand how your data is handled.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information (Sign in with Apple)

NomNom Map uses Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you sign in for the first time, Apple may share the following information with us, depending on what you choose to provide:

• Apple User ID: A unique, app-specific identifier assigned by Apple. We use this to link your account to our backend.
• Full name: Provided only on the first sign-in. You may choose to hide your name; if you do, we will not receive it.
• Email address: Apple may provide your real email address or a private relay address. You may choose to hide your email; if you do, a private relay address is used instead.

On subsequent sign-ins, Apple only sends the User ID — your name and email are not re-transmitted unless you revoke and re-grant access.

1.2 Profile Information You Provide

After signing in, you may optionally customise your profile within the app:

• Nickname: A display name shown on the leaderboard and your profile. You choose this.
• Avatar preset: A preset avatar image selected from within the app.
• Premium status: Whether your account has an active Premium subscription.

1.3 Check-In Data

Each time you check in to a restaurant, we store the following on our servers:

• Restaurant ID: Which restaurant you visited (from our database).
• Check-in timestamp: The date and time of your check-in.
• Note: An optional personal note you add to the check-in.
• GPS coordinates: Your approximate location at the time of check-in, if you grant location permission. Used to verify proximity to the restaurant.

You may also attach optional photos to a check-in. These photos are stored on your device and synced to your iCloud account. We do not upload or store photos on our servers.

1.4 Usage and Technical Data

We may collect limited technical information to operate the service reliably, including:

• App version and iOS version
• Anonymised crash reports and error logs to diagnose technical issues

We do not use third-party analytics SDKs or advertising trackers within NomNom Map.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

• Create and maintain your account and authenticate you securely
• Record and display your check-in history across devices
• Calculate your leaderboard rank based on unique restaurants visited
• Award and track badges and milestones
• Sync your data across your Apple devices via iCloud
• Process and verify in-app purchase subscriptions through Apple
• Respond to support requests you send us
• Improve the reliability and performance of the app

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or to sell to third parties.

3. Leaderboard and Public Information

NomNom Map features a global leaderboard. The following information may be visible to other users of the app through the leaderboard:

• Your display name (nickname)
• Your avatar preset
• Your leaderboard rank
• The number of unique restaurants you have checked in to

Individual check-in details, notes, photos, and your email address are never shared with other users. You can update your nickname or avatar at any time from the Profile screen.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account and check-in data is stored on our secure backend servers. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS (TLS) encryption.

Authentication is handled via JSON Web Tokens (JWT) stored securely in the iOS Keychain. Tokens are not stored in plain text or accessible to other apps.

Check-in photos and local preference data are stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit and iCloud Drive. We do not store photos on our servers. iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and is only accessible to you.

While we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to keep your Apple ID secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and check-in records for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see Section 6), all personal data associated with your account — including your profile, check-in history, and notes stored on our servers — is permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone. Photos stored locally or in iCloud are not affected and must be managed separately.

Anonymised and aggregated data (e.g. total check-in counts per restaurant) that cannot identify you may be retained for service analytics.

6. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your NomNom Map account at any time from within the app:

• Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account
• Confirm deletion when prompted

Account deletion will immediately and permanently erase all of your personal data from our servers, including your profile information, all check-in records, and notes. Photos stored on your device or in iCloud are not deleted by us and should be managed separately via iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.

If you are unable to access the app, you may also request account deletion by contacting us at support@lakesnowtech.com from the email address associated with your Apple ID.

7. Third-Party Services

7.1 Apple Sign In

Authentication is handled through Apple's Sign in with Apple service, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only the information Apple passes to us during sign-in (as described in Section 1.1).

7.2 App Store and In-App Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not handle or store your payment card details. Transaction receipts are verified server-side via Apple's StoreKit APIs. Apple's purchase handling is governed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

7.3 Map Services

When you tap "Get Directions" for a restaurant, the app opens Apple Maps, Amap, or Baidu Maps — whichever you select. The respective mapping application's privacy policy applies from that point. We do not transmit your location to any map service.

7.4 iCloud / CloudKit

NomNom Map uses Apple CloudKit and iCloud Drive for on-device data sync. This data lives in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

8. Children's Privacy

NomNom Map is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Update your nickname or avatar directly in the app at any time.
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data as described in Section 6.
• Portability: Request an export of your check-in data in a machine-readable format.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of NomNom Map after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
